Bernie Hammond is an associate professor of Sociology at King’s University College.  His early research focused on the relation between health care and social justice.  He was the Founding Coordinator of the Social Justice and Peace Studies Program at King’s University College, which encourages critical reflection on structural injustices locally and globally and calls for social action to transform the world in the interests of equity and the pursuit of peace. 

Hammond is also the Director of the Centre for Social Concern, which aims to research and educate in areas surrounding social justice and peace as well as enhance public awareness about the issues.  The Centre hosts speaking events, works with groups in London and from the international community, and promotes justice and peace worldwide.
