Evaluating the Impact of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada

*** LOCATION CHANGE *** to Moot Court Room, Law Building, Room 207

On Thursday, May 8, 2014, The Centre for Transitional Justice and Post-Conflict Reconstruction will host a one-day conference on the theme "Evaluating the Impact of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada".

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission was established to address the legacy of the Indian Residential Schools and was meant to be a profound committment to establishing new relationships embedded in mutual recognition and respect that will forge a brighter future (Schedule "N" Mandate").

As the TRC nears the end of its mandate, this conference takes a scholarly snapshot of the TRC's impact across a number of different aspects of the Canadian lanscape.  These include the collective understanding of the legacy of colonialism; the role of the churches; the evolution of the term "reconciliation" in legal matters; and other important elements.
